Parliament showed a comic scene when Rushenyi County MP Naome Kabasharira, congratulating her colleague, Grace Ngabirano from Kisoro, on her swearing-in, called her Party Head of Electoral Commission Tanga Odoi “thief.”.
“Allow me to congratulate my sister from Kisoro because she was sworn in when I wasn’t here for defeating the NRM Electoral Thief chairperson in the name of Tanga Odoi; I congratulate her for that,” she said.

In the recently ended National Resistance Movement party primaries in Kisoro, the loser later went to win the seat in the national election itself.
Deputy Speaker Tayebwa immediately cut in, cautioning Kabasharira against using such language.
“That is a very unfortunate statement on a person who doesn’t have a way here to defend himself; I know you can use better language, even when you have issues,” Tayebwa said.
Kabasharira, bowing out, withdrew her statement, saying, “Okay, the point is made, although I withdraw it.”
