Famed traffic officer Abdallah Tusiime, celebrated for directing traffic in heavy rain in Kampala, has been awarded a free Umrah pilgrimage trip to Mecca on December 22, 2024.
A video of Tusiime directing traffic along Mawanda Road during the downpour went viral on social media over the past week. Yakub Mayanja, executive director of Tumah Travels Hajji and Umrah Services, explained, “As a Muslim, we felt it fitting to honor Tusiime with a first-class flight to Mecca for Umrah.”
Sheikh Mushin Kitti, head of Hajj and Umrah affairs at Tumah Travels, highlighted that Tusiime’s dedication on duty wasn’t a first, and this reward comes as a response to his continued hard work. “This time, Allah answered his prayers through a viral video,” he said, urging Tusiime to embrace it as a pivotal life moment.
Expressing his gratitude, Tusiime acknowledged the miracle and thanked the Uganda Police for the platform to serve his country. He encouraged Ugandans to stay passionate in their work, trusting that rewards come at the right time.
